An 11-year veteran of the New York City Fire Department, he served with Engine 88 / Ladder 38 in the Belmont section of the Bronx.

He was a devoted father to his son, Peter Simonelli and his wife Hannah of Palisades, NY. He was a loving Bubba to his five grandsons, Alex and Dylan Wisnewski, Joseph, Jack and Lucas Simonelli. He also leaves behind three step children, Fred and Jeanette Ramos of Tappan and Sesi, and Robin Ramos. He is survived by his wife, Patty Gloeckler of Tappan, and his beloved children, P.J.
